We provide personal outreach to residents within our precincts , elect HDCC officers, publish a county platform and, from time to time, resolutions about specific events or issues.
- If you would like to influence how issues important to the residents of the 2nd Congressional District are addressed, considering becoming a delegate to the DPO 2nd Congressional District Committee (CDC). The chair of the 2nd CDC serves as a Presidential Elector during a presidential election year. The HCDCC elects two CDC delegates for the 2nd Congressional District.
- If you would like participate at the state-level, consider becoming a delegate to the DPO State Central Committee (SCC). SCC delegates elect DPO officers, approve the DPO budget, pass resolutions, serve on standing committees, and help form the DPO platform. The HCDCC elects two SCC delegates.
Vote
It's no secret. Republicans outnumber Democrats in Harney County. So why does your vote count?
- It demonstrates that Democrats live in Harney County and should be respected by Republican officeholders as their constituents.
- Many of the decisions that impact the quality of life in Harney County are made by nonpartisan officeholders, such as county court judge, county commissioners, county treasurer, city mayor and councilors, electrical cooperative board members, circuit court judge, parks and recreation director, county sheriff, and school board members. It is important that these positions are held by people who believe in collaboration and will work for the benefit of all Harney County residents rather than push a particular political agenda.
- Radical political agendas push candidates, recall efforts, and ballot initiatives funded by big money, out-of-state donors. Low voter turnout could allow a small, highly-motivated, but unrepresentative, group of Harney County voters to call the shots. Elections have consequences.
- Free and fair elections are key to our country's democracy.
